Chai for Christmas Anyone?

I just love this new-found recipe for an easy to make Chai tea.   What is not to love about cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and cloves?  It’s just right for the holidays.     If you indulge at a coffee shop you will find their Chai Tea is good, but it is expensive and tops out at about 400 calories.  Here is one that you can make at home in a snap with about 17 calories per teaspoon.    So you’re not much a tea drinker no problem.  Try this in your morning cup of joe.  It is divine.

This will make the perfect gift for Chai lovers.  Find some cute jars, tie a cute ribbon,  and include directions.  So easy!

This is so good you might just want to drink it out of a straw.

Chia Tea Concentrate  from The Oregonian

Yield:  1 pint

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 can (14 ounce size) sweetened condensed milk

Directions:

  1.  Mix the spices and condensed milk thoroughly. Refrigerate at least 24 hours before using, and store in refrigerator.
  2. To use, brew a strong black tea.
  3. Stir in 1/2 to 2 heaping teaspoons of Chai concentrate mix per cup of freshly steeped tea.  Really stir mix in so that it will melt into the tea.

Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.  I doubt it will last that long!
